Ne Zha 2 continues to break box office records, as it bags the historic milestone of being the first Chinese, non-Hollywood film to earn more than $2 billion USD in the box office. The film also ranks as the 6th best-selling film on IMAX. These achievements have come one after the other, as Ne Zha 2 is now currently the highest grossing animated film of all time.
Ne Zha 2 follows the events of the first film, with Master Taiyi trying to reconstruct Ne Zha and Ao Bing’s bodies which were destroyed by heavenly lightning. As they regain their strength, the realm is put in peril as Ao Bing’s dad swears revenge for what the human world did to his son.
Director Jiao Zi emphasises the themes of parental love and family in Ne Zha 2, to give thanks for the support he got from his parents in his pursuit of animation. He tells South China Morning Post, ”My family is harmonious. Thanks to my parents’ support and tolerance, I could carry on working in this industry. So I wished to integrate my real thoughts and feelings into my work.”
Jiao Zi graduated with a degree in pharmacy, but quickly found that his interests lie elsewhere. Studying animation on his own, his mother convinced his father to support his newfound passion. “My mother knows I am not a flamboyant, but a hard-working person. She trusts me,” he says. After a period of financial struggle following the passing of Jiao Zi’s father, things turned around after his short film See Through won multiple local and international awards.

Excommunicado! Not me reuniting chibi John Wick with his emotional support doggo! The assassin/ultimate pet parent is back for another video game platform hell mission in the fourth installment of the John Wick action movie franchise.
From witnessing the revengeance against the animal haters in the first film to his endless run fighting off mooks on a ridiculously long flight of stars, the guy has been through a lot. I’m just rooting for him to get therapy and finally rest.
I’m looking forward to rewatching the movie and have been drawn into the world-building of the assassin network in the John Wick franchise. I would be down to work at the Osaka Continental for starters. Since I’m a kawaii hobbyist and dress in cutesy clothes, I guess there may be a stark contrast with my other interests such as horror and over-the-top action films. Hopefully, online connectivity provides a platform to showcase a more multifaceted identity. (Although, at some point since I kept talking about horror, some contacts may have forgotten that I live for cartoons!)

From the creative minds behind the renowned Ortigas Art Festival comes a fresh creative and interactive experience. For those looking for date ideas this love month, the first GH Young Artists Festival at GH Mall from February 12 to February 26 is sure to bring a unique blend of vibrance and innovation from both artists and visitors alike.
In partnership with Agos Studio, the GH Young Artists Festival puts the spotlight on emerging young artists from different parts of the Philippines. GH Mall’s East Wing Atrium was transformed into a hub that showcases beautiful, dynamic pieces in a non-traditional space.
With the theme, “Art For[ward]: Art that transcends borders,” the festival amplifies underrepresented voices that push art forward and shape the future. It is ultimately a platform that doesn’t gatekeep art – it is free and encourages people, especially the youth, to be active participants in various artworks.
For two weeks, visitors of all ages can check out exhibits for free and experience various interactive spaces and workshops that will bring out their creative sides.

Free exhibits by innovative Filipino artists
The GH Young Artists Festival features free artist-run exhibits with a diverse selection of paintings, sculptures, and interactive art pieces. They are run by the country’s up-and-coming innovative artists from Agos Studio, Thombayan Art Space, Thrive Art Projects, Fu Bear and Friends, UP Diliman’s collective of student artists, and many more. Award-winning Filipino artists Marge Chavez, Kira Uygongco, and Rachel Anne Lacaba will also display their diverse portfolio of works.
Visitors must keep their eyes out on interactive artwork that they’re free to touch. One is Orland Espinosa from Iloilo, who has a piece that allows people to mold and play with clay to help bring his art to life.
Leave your creative mark on the Community Canvas and photo wall
Apart from paintings and sculptures, you can also interact with installations, such as The Community Canvas. This encourages visitors to paint and draw on the installation to create a dynamic and unique community art piece.
Interested participants can join by registering at the walk-in booth and pay the registration fee of P300 for adults and P150 for students (present valid ID), kids aged 5 to 10 years old, and Ortigas Community Card holders.
Another installation that’s worth checking out is the #ArtByYou Community Wall, where people can write their thoughts and reflections about the festival, and use the stickers provided to spruce up their musings. A selfie mirror is also installed in the wall design so visitors can take fun photos for their Instagram feeds. This installation is a twist on the typical community wall, going beyond the usual sticky notes and turning it into an engaging centerpiece.
Enriching art workshops for every interest
From February 12 to 25, visitors can participate in GH Young Artist Festival’s wide array of workshops. They can learn from the best in painting, oil pastel, carving, jewelry designing, and more. This is also the perfect date idea to spend time with loved ones this Valentine season.
All workshops, except the Art Swap, have a minimal fee (discounted for Ortigas Community Card holders) to join.

Some of the art activities that I was able to do during the launch: Painting on the canvas, making clay art, and doodling notes.
I was initially hesitant about contributing to the freedom walls since my art skills are mid but the featured artists have been so kind and encouraging to us art normies about expressing our creativity. I’ll write more about that experience and how I made new friends there in another post.

Hear me out: Jericho Rosales as former President Manuel L. Quezon! Echo is officially our dude on the 20-peso bill! And joining him are the iconic face cards of the P50 and P100 bills: Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña and JC Santos as Manuel Roxas.
Karylle Yuzon will be playing presidential wifey, Aurora Quezon and returning from previous Bayaniverse films will be Mon Confiado as former President Emilio Aguinaldo and Benjamin Alves as younger Quezon. And for the Joven fans, don’t worry because this fictional character will be back and he will now be portrayed by Cris Villanueva.
Looks like the Bayaniverse “Hear Me Out” cake will be crowded since there is a lot of simping potential in this film. ICYDK: The “Hear Me Out” cake meme involves putting a photo of your unconventional crush on a stick and placing it on top of the cake.

“TBA Studios, officially announced on February 18 that actor Jericho Rosales will play the title role of Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon in the biographical historical movie ‘Quezon.’
Rosales will lead the cast of the much-anticipated biopic, which is expected to follow the life of Quezon, a Filipino lawyer, and soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944. ‘Quezon’ will serve as Rosales’ long-awaited return to Philippine cinema after a years-long hiatus; he was last seen on the big screen via the 2018 romantic drama ‘The Girl in the Orange Dress.’ On television, he recently starred in the hit ABS-CBN drama “Lavender Fields.”
‘I feel so honored to be with this team. Coming to a script like this which is so potent and so entertaining, I feel so lucky and happy.’ Rosales said. ‘Here, you will see Quezon as a person. He’s not written as a hero. He is cunning, he is charming, he is intelligent. Quezon is such an interesting character to play; there are so many things I can put into the role to build Quezon as a character. That adds to the pressure, but at the same time I am very excited.’

Meanwhile, ‘Quezon’ director and co-writer Jerrold Tarog said Rosales was cast for the power he is known to deliver on screen—the same power the actor showcased when he auditioned for the role of Gen. Antonio Luna in the 2015 historical biopic ‘Heneral Luna.’
Also starring in ‘Quezon’ are Mon Confiado and Benjamin Alves, who reprise their roles from earlier films ‘Heneral Luna’ and ‘Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.’ Confiado returns as Emilio Aguinaldo and Quezon’s political rival. Meanwhile, Alves portrays a younger Manuel L. Quezon.
Joining Rosales, Confiado, and Alves are Karylle Yuzon as Quezon’s wife, Aurora Quezon; Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines; JC Santos as Manuel Roxas; and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the film series.

It’s a relatively more affordable way for me to get official merchandise of my fandoms like Super Mario, Kirby, Hello Kitty, and then some. I have even met some new friends while indulging in my hobby and hanging out at one of the local Gashapon Stations. Real talk though, when I don’t have the budget for tokens, I just visit to do some window shopping, scoping out the place for the latest drops.
