“There’s a little witch in all of us.” Practical Magic is one of those films that came at the height of the wiccan aesthetic in pop culture with a soundtrack that immediately puts me in a kilig mood (“This Kiss” by Faith Hill is top tier!) Even the Owens generational curse was a good reason to fend off relatives’ questions about my love life. Never did I expect that the film (based on the novel by Alice Hoffman) would spawn a sequel years later but I welcome the Witchy marketing and merch that will come with this magical movie!

The biggest win for me is that they brought back Stockard Channing (Frances Owens) and Dianne Wiest (Bridget “Jet” Owens) as the sassy aunties. The margarita scene became a pivotal part of how I viewed my adulthood. (And now I am of age to drink margarita while dancing.)

Personally, it’s kinda surreal for me to think that I’m around the age of the kids in the first film so they should be trentahin by now. I’m wondering how old Gillian’s daughters (Kylie and Antonia) will actually be in the sequel.

And consider me intrigued for the respective love interests paired with mother and daughter, Lee Pace and Xolo Maridueña, since I’m curious if they’ll be able to break the curse.

Guess I’ll be harnessing witchy vibes and celebrating Halloween earlier (as always). Practical Magic 2 is coming soon on September 9!
